I’m writing this from the little table in our room at The Inn at Jackson Hole. I would have taken a picture of the room, but Calvin threw off his clothes, threw back the bedcovers, and crashed as soon as we hit the door. Tomorrow, after maid service. King bed. Kitchenette. Balcony. Fireplace. We got an upgrade – WAY AWESOME.
Northern Arizona/Southern Utah was incredibly beautiful, and Rt. 89 was a joy to drive through. I-15 up the middle of Utah is kind of a drag, though – boring landscape. We got dinner at The Bohemian Brewery, spent the night in a truly cruddy Days Inn in the outskirts of Salt Lake City (Midvale) then beat feet by 6:00 a.m. this morning. The drive up through Idaho was exceptional – farms that dotted the vast fields and rolling green hills that grew and grew until they became the mountains on the western border of Wyoming.
We hit Teton Village at about 11:00 a.m. and discovered that our room wasn’t ready yet. So we got some lunch at the Mangy Moose, drove into Jackson to rent a motorcycle for Sunday and Monday, got back to Teton Village and checked in, lugged all of our stuff into our room, and here we are.
I’m giving Calvin another half-hour, tops.
Here are a couple of pictures I’ve taken – just had the camera on program mode so I could get a couple of snaps before getting down to photographical bidness tomorrow.
In parting, if you’re not following my Twitter feed, you’re missing out! I’m just sayin’…
More later, my dears!
