Quiet.

1iconkittenheadphonesFriday night Calvin and I went out to dinner, then went to see the new Terminator movie (movies in the actual theater two weekends in a row! I know, gasp, right?). I was highly amused by the references to the past three movies (really more to #1 and #2, than to #3), hence this week’s tagline. I ’bout bust a gut there in the theater, I laughed so hard when they threw the song in there. There. I won’t spoil any more of the movie for you all.

I continue to be impressed by Anton Yelchin – he’s having a quite excellent summer, being in both Star Trek and Terminator. An unlikely action hero, to be sure. I still liked him best as Charlie Bartlett, but I’m thinking this kid is going to be a real up-and-comer.

Saturday Calvin went out and rented a carpet steam cleaner and we spent the day trying to salvage the carpets and area rugs. Well, the area rugs weren’t so bad, but the carpets are trashed. The only areas in the entire house that are carpeted are the three bedrooms and the workout room – everything else is tile. We’re trying to manage with the carpets we have until we’re ready to sell the house, then we’ll replace them. Calvin did a pretty great job and got them to what is probably the best condition they can possibly be in after nine years, teenage inhabitants, three grandbabies, two cats, two dogs, and various stints as storage areas.

I made potato salad in the morning, and that’s pretty much what I’ve been living off of for the past two days. Because…

This morning I woke up with a face that the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man would have envied, had he not been destroyed in a glory of crossing proton streams. I’m sure we stirred up things in those carpets that have yet to be defined by science. Certainly there was a lot of dust and pet hair. My throat hurt, my eyes were swollen shut, and my face was all weird and blotchy. Feeling so attractive as I was, I called Calvin’s sister and cancelled the plans we had today for me to go to her house and help her get set up with a website. She has a business cleaning the model homes for home builders, and as you can imagine business has fallen off to a large degree. She’s going to expand to office and foreclosure cleaning, so we’re going to play around with Microsoft Publisher and make some brochures and new business cards. I have a million ideas – I love doing stuff like that.

Anyway. I took a rain check and I’ll be working on stuff on my end and talking to her a bunch on the phone this week, instead. Today I did laundry, washed the bedroom curtains, and slept for, like, three hours this afternoon. Right now Calvin and I are watching PBS’s airing of Great Performances: David Foster And Friends – Live at Mandalay Bay. I’ve found a new artist to obsess over – Michael Buble, who is so old school and humorous that I fell in instant like with him. Then there was little Charise, a sixteen year old Asian girl who is, astonishingly, a total sound-alike for Whitney Houston. We just sat there and blinked and holy-crapped all the way through her renditions of “If I Don’t Have You” and “I Will Always Love You”.

Here, I found it on YouTube:

It’s been a quiet, quiet weekend. We’re trying to save money for our trip this summer, so we’re kind of rattling around the house and being bored. So bored, in fact, that last night Calvin actually watched a Dane Cook standup show, and he HATES Dane Cook’s standup. He doesn’t mind his acting, though. As for myself, I watched most of “Harold and Kumar”, and “Knocked-Up”, both movies I’ve seen a bunch of times. I watched several more episodes of Supernatural S4 (I only have four more episodes to watch, WOE!) while Calvin was either napping our out of the house – he poo-poo’s my love of Jensen Ackles (okay, so he DID suck in “My Bloody Valentine” – I blame it on the director), but he’s just jealous.

Okay, I’m sneezing my fool head off, so I’m gonna go take some more druuuugs, maaaaan. Here, have some more NOM. You’re welcome.

Anton Yelchin was born in 1989. Seriously. How is he not like four years old?

Oh I thought I’d come to Laura’s blog, instead of that I’ve clicked onto the blog of a 16 year old girl with photos of a half dressed man with a body that’s not quite as muscular as mine.

I’ll have to come back again more often. 😉

Being a Harry Connick lover, I naturally fell for Buble as well. His voice is like BUTTAH, DAHLINK! That girl there is pretty amazing too.
I can say with experience cleaning foreclosures can be a very lucrative business, especially in the times we’re living in right now. It’s what got us through months of Brian being unemployed and prevented us from landing in debtors prison.

I find it a sad irony that she’s going from cleaning the model homes of new construction sites and hopeful new home buyers, to cleaning the homes left behind by sad families having to leave their properties. This economy sucks so bad there are no other words to put to it.

The pic reminds me – Dys really should do her “Boys of MotoGP” spread that she was planning.

I can’t help it, Michael Buble will always be “the dork from the Starbucks commercial” to me.

Have you seen Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay? I saw it for the first time this week and thought it was a riot.
