Blank

Posted: March 18, 2009 in Music, Video

I’m adrift in a non-writing frame of mind. Nothing awful, nothing incredible. Just… kind of blank. So, I leave you with this, a song that I heard on the radio yesterday, that I hadn’t heard in YEARS, and yet was surprised to find I remembered every word. The brain is an amazing, mysterious place.

  1. Taoist Biker says:

That’s the same mood I was in last week.

Ah, George. I’m so torn. On the one hand, he gave us “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” On the other, “My Sweet Lord” aka that damned Krishna Krishna song. *shiver*

  2. crisitunity says:

This song is just siiiix woooords long. This song is just siiiix woooords long.

    (repeat)

  3. Sharon says:

The mind is a funny thing. Sometimes I can’t remember the simplest thing, but I have thousands of lyrics in my head. Thanks for sharing the song. I hadn’t heard it in a long time.

Wouldn’t it be interesting if we could get down the contents of our brain on paper, or some sort of file? We’d be ASTONISHED (and probably troubled) by all the stuff that’s rattling around in there. I wonder why it’s easier to remember unimportant stuff, but hard to remember important stuff? That’s my experience, at least.

  4. Kim says:

    Damn ear worm!

    • Laura says:

I do seem to post those a lot, don’t I? (Aside: I’m obsessively “refreshing” your site to see if you’ve posted an update this morning!)

  5. AmyD says:

I love that song! I remember when that video came out!

And… wow, I am stealing this idea from you. I was all blanky-blank (and less than sober, which is usually a good thing) and had nothing to write about… TOTAL BLOCK.

  6. My mother loved that song and it made me hate George Harrison until I really sat and listened to All Things Must Pass. I’d have to say “Isn’t a Pity” is my favorite GH song.

    • Laura says:

I haven’t listened to a lot of GH, though I might remedy that in the near future. Really, I like the song because of the nostalgia. I like a LOT of songs because of the nostalgia. Hmm… I see a music-themed entry in my future.

  7. angelcel says:

Oh I know all about the non-writing frame of mind. Been there, done that (or not, as the case may be)!
Oh, I can’t agree with Taoist Biker about ‘My sweet Lord’ – I loved it! (Even if I did later find that it was a rather blatant rip-off of ‘He’s so fine’).
…And referring back to your recent comment about parentheses? Don’t worry because you’re not alone there either (except that I like to use dots too)…! 😀

    • Laura says:

Writer’s block happens to the best of us, eh? And WHY is it when I read “He’s so fine” I THOUGHT the tune for “You’re so vain…”?

Heh. I like ellipsis (ellipses?), too…
